Paper yarn is an environmentally friendly textile yarn made of natural plant fiber paper (mostly wood pulp paper). The paper is cut into narrow strips of 0.5–6mm, then physically twisted or plied with other fibers. Different from chemical fiber, it can be made of pure paper or blended fibers.
Made of natural plant fibers, it can be completely degraded within 2 weeks to several months after disposal with no plastic pollution.
With a hollow and porous structure, it is ultra-light (10–18g/㎡), moisture-absorbent, quick-drying and non-sticky to the skin.
It is quick-drying, mite-resistant and antibacterial. Its wear resistance is 3–5 times that of cotton, with anti-pilling and anti-ultraviolet properties.
It has a strong paper texture and good stiffness with stable shaping effect. Its disadvantages are poor elasticity and easy breakage, so blending with other fibers is required for weaving reinforcement
